OK, driving this morning I overheard Watson on Rock 102 venting about how his wife and him are looking for their first home but are frustrated with what you get for what you pay...  having a home on the market my first thought was I should send him my listing, my second was an internal giggle at the fact that every house I've bought I've felt the same way.

Here's the deal though, when my parents moved to Saskatoon they felt the same, when they bought their next house moving to the East side in the early 80's they nearly choked on the $78,000 price tag, likewise my in laws with their first home in the late 60's early 70's thought they over paid (under $20,000) for their first and were told they were over paying when they bought their second home for $53,000 in the late 70's

Fair warning this is like a car wreck, you want to turn your head but you just have to look...

So today in a disturbing press conference of sorts, Jim Pankiw announced he would be running as an independent in the federal riding of Saskatoon-Humboldt.

Driving through a cloud in Saskatoon

Posted by kdmi in Saskatoon Driving

kdmi

What a crazy beautiful place it is that we live, after a week of -40+ (wind chill included) temps this mornings -12 had me considering shorts and the gorgeous fog was surreal to drive through.

While I mention the beauty of the drive I should be clear, I was still driving Saskatoon's pothole ridden streets in the company of Saskatoon drivers which means that it was a slow bumpy cloud that I was driving through, but the softness surrounding took away from the typical frustrations of our fine cities drivers who merge into 90km traffic at a speed of 70km per hour, which irk me to know end - not as much as those who use the portion between Taylor and 8th street as a connecting road and never bring themselves up to speed, you know who you are - don't do this it's dangerous to all involved, especially you if you pull in front of an eighteen wheeler going 90km per hour without looking at 50km per hour bringing yourself up to maybe 70km before taking the next exit, damn it take Acadia theres only two pedestrian lights it's just as quick.

Vaccine Clinics in Saskatoon Open for Public

Saskatoon H1N1 Vaccine Clinic LinesSo my natural instinct is to mock and crack jokes about things I don`t necessarily agree with, I can be a bit of a dick that way... Today I feel that it`s important to mention first and foremost that  while I may have different opinions that some, possibly you included,  I do recognize the fact that when it comes to our children we all do the best we can, and make the very best choices we can make for the health and safety of our children.

The issue of vaccination is a difficult  one for my wife and I, as parents of four young children there are so many different ways of looking at it, different ways of weighing the risk factors and different paradigms by which to view the issue altogether. For us the answer is not to vaccinate for H1N1.

Saskatoon election results - civic election 2009

For anyone simply looking for the results and not my commentary Don Atchison won his third term with what's being described as a landslide... how much of a landslide you can have with only a reporter 27.3 per cent turnout at the polls I don't know.

So the whole point of putting together the blogging feature of ViewSaskatoon.ca was to encourage positive uplifting stories and commentaries on our wonderful city, so in an effort to stay true to this vision here is my positive spin:

One of the strongest divisions of KDMI is our Data Recovery division, which is absolutely ridiculous in this day and age for most home and small business computer operators.

For those like me with short attention spans I'll jump to the punch line quick - There are two simple to set up things you can do to have your data secure.

Police presence on Idylwyld Drive in Saskatoon

Saskatoon protester of George W. Bush and the Iraq WarDriving down Idylwyld Dr. today you may find yourself wondering, what the heck are all these police officers doing at nearly every corner? At least I did from about 29th street till I hit 22nd street this afternoon.

It was the tiny handfull of straggling protestors on the corner that finally gave it away... "George W. Bush" OK now I did create this site to bring positive perspectives to Saskatoon and how we view ourselves, so here's todays effort - It's really nice that Saskatoon is now a destination for high priced, international speakers when not that long ago we were the city and province that everyone flew over on their way somewhere else. This is good for Saskatoon.
