I don't know about you, but outside of mainstream punk such as Green Day I just don't consider myself a

Punk fan. But a couple of weeks ago when a straight laced, early thirties friend of mine was nearly jumping up and down with excitement when his eye caught a Gogol Bordello concert advertisement on one of the Broadway poster poles I knew I had to check them out.

So an hour or so on YouTube, a single email with a return phone call coming in later that day I found myself purchasing 4 tickets for 4 adults who prior had never heard of Gogol Bordello, and were not huge punk followers, and I also had an eight year old son who was annoyed that I would not take him to this all ages concert.

Not being a punk follower, not ever having encountered a band billing themselves as Gypsy Punk before and my instant desire to catch this band live, I encourage all the readers of this article to open their minds, hit the videos section of this site, hit YouTube and get your tickets for what looks to be an absolute blast of a show.

A Quick profile of Gogol Bordello:

New York based band comprised for the most part of immigrant musicians including a Ukrainian front man, Russian Fiddle and accordion players, Ethiopian bass player, Ecuadorian percussionist, American Drummer, Israeli guitarist, and backing singers of UK raised Chinese and American/Thai decent.

GB has been performing everywhere enjoying exposure on Conan O'Brien, David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, Henry Rollins, Jools Holland shows and performed with Madonna during live earth in 2007 (yes I said Madonna, check out the video)
