It's Fall Again, Yes it isPosted by kdmi in Untagged |

So it's been said that in Saskatchewan all we talk about is the weather... yeah, is there any wonder why?
I'm very greatful that fall has come back and graced us with it's presence again, but if you are anything like me you are a little tentative on beleiving it's going to stick around very long.

Saskatoon broadway coffee and teaPosted by kdmi in Untagged |
|
Have you ever faced the situation of going to the wrong coffee shop, ordering and then finding out you were at the wrong place? well that was my day today, in fact it pretty much illustrates how fried my mind was getting and how necessary the break was.
It really was no question there was no way I was walking into the Broadway Roastery with a fresh Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha in my hands, nor did I need the additional caffeine of ordering a coffee or espresso so a cup of herbal loose leaf tea was in order.

Thanksgiving 2009, friends family gratitudePosted by kdmi in Untagged |
|
Well, I think acceptance of the snow has finally set in with me. Today the focus is purely on enjoying family both immediate and extended, and taking time to remember that many are not as fortunate as I am.
In fact I'm going to keep this short today and take my boys to the park and embrace the weather, later we'll join my parent, my inlaws and who knows who else for Turkey dinner.

Grand Ole Opry - style event planned for Saskatoon!!Posted by tls345 in Untagged |

Following on the success of last year’s benefit concert that raised $30,000 for composer/musician Angie Tysseland and ovarian cancer, Cosmic Pad Studios is delighted to announce Trials By Fire II. Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7:30pm at Lakeview Auditorium.
The 2009 edition could almost be compared to the Grand Ole Opry. This musical variety show stars The Deep Dark Woods, Andrea Menard, Stephen Maguire, Ellen Kolenick and Angie Tysseland. On stage throughout the night will be Saskatoon’s well-loved gospel choir Refiner’s Fire and, making their debut appearance, the chant choir Mysterium. Keeping the show rockin’ will be the Trials By Fire house band, with Skip Kutz, Sheldon Corbett, Randy Woods, Charles Dumont and Roy Sydiaha, under the musical direction of Ross Nykiforuk. The audience will also enjoy the sounds of back-up singers The Triallettes, including Alexis Korchinski, Katie Nichol and Lisa Unrau.
At this year’s event, the audience will have a chance to take home the Trials By Fire II compilation CD, featuring each of the artists from the night. 100% of the proceeds from CD sales go to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
Tickets are $30 and available at McNally Robinson and online at:

So it's Oct. 8th, and it snowed, for the first while I looked out the window and said to myself "it's melting when it hits the ground, and it really is beautiful as it floats down, as the day progressed and the snow began to stay I found I had to work a little harder to stay positive about it.
The truth is really the weather was quite nice, the snow is very beautiful coming down and for a brief time the white blanket leaves everything feeling fresh and clean, allowing us to forget about those leaves we hadn't raked or sucked up yet, and any other misc. yard duties that are yet undone.

This morning more than any so far this fall I was struck by the crispness of the air, I choose the word crisp carefully, as unlike other terms I may have used "crisp" has positive connotations to it.
That really is the point, positivity, this website viewsaskatoon.ca was put together to celebrate and provide a gathering place of persons who truly value this treasure of a city, with a goal of providing the ability to allow people to connect and blog about Saskatoon in a positive light.

Gogol Bodello Saskatoon ReviewPosted by kdmi in saskatooon , Saskatoon , Odeon Events Centre , Gypsy Punk , Gogol Bordello , Gogol , events , concerts , concerts |

To say that the Gogol Bordello show was a hell of a party would be an understatement! The energy was infectious, and I find myself torn as to whether or not I'm surprised at the broad cross section of society represented in the crowd, including the lower level jammed to the stage bunch that bounced and swayed in unison with the occasional crowd surfer that would pop out in the midst and be quickly fished off the crowd by quick acting security guards.
The opening act... well they were time filler, really quite a forgettable two piece "band" if you will that became very boring and repetitive after about half a song, in fact I've already forgotten their name, "apostle something.." I think.
