So it's Oct. 8th, and it snowed, for the first while I looked out the window and said to myself "it's melting when it hits the ground, and it really is beautiful as it floats down, as the day progressed and the snow began to stay I found I had to work a little harder to stay positive about it.
The truth is really the weather was quite nice, the snow is very beautiful coming down and for a brief time the white blanket leaves everything feeling fresh and clean, allowing us to forget about those leaves we hadn't raked or sucked up yet, and any other misc. yard duties that are yet undone.
The hard part is not dwelling in the future, the minus 30 that is to come, but really that's a long ways off yet (I hope) and it allowed me to light the fireplace which I always enjoy.
I am counting on it melting away at least once before the permanent winter blanket arrives to provide my children with hours of bone chilling fun often followed up with hot coca. I will walk away from todays snowfall with an appreciation for the site, and a healthy motivation to get the yard cleanup done that has been put off.
All in all it's a great day, sometimes it takes a little conversation with oneself to get to the positive and let go of yesterday, not venture into fears of the future and simply enjoy what is here and now.
Even when it snows, Saskatoon is a great place to be!
